The Kardashian Divorce: Top 10 Tweets and Other Stuff

Today I'm over at Rants from Mommyland, giggling with Lydia over tweets about the Kim Kardashian - Kris Humphries divorce.  We're totally not taking pleasure from someone else's misfortune, I swear.  But the fact that her wedding cost $10 million (and yet it appears she made a profit off the thing) makes me want to vomit.

Also, here's a few more thoughts about this insanity:
  • Kim Kardashian's wedding: $10 million.  3 custom-made gowns by Vera Want. 72 days.
  • My wedding: Under $2,000 total.  1 dress that I bought off the rack.  I've been married over 16 years.
  • If 72 days is now a unit of time called a Kardashian, I have been married for 82.33 Kardashians.  You can calculate your marriage in Kardashians at the Kardashian Calculator(Thank you to reader Amy T. for letting me know about the calculator!)
Here is a photo of just one of the three custom-made gowns Kim wore for her wedding.

Here is a photo of my friend's spoiled hamster, whom we call Rodent Kim Kardashian.  You can't see the blinged-out cage in the photo.  The resemblance is uncanny, right?
Also, not to get all political up in here, but here is my fave image out of the whole thing.

I dream of a day when we all have equal rights to an ostentatious, blinged-out, publicity-hounding sham of a legal marriage.

  1. < fangirl > I have a friend with a few more kids than you and she introduced me to your blog when she facebooked something particularly funny you wrote. I don't have kids, but I love love love reading your blog! My husband and I have... "issues" and mine may include one or all of your children's ADD/ASD/SPD (you've inspired me to get tested and find out). So because of those, my husband, and admittedly myself, have been worried about having kids because of what trouble they might have in life. None of whatever I have was diagnosed and I had a hell of a time in school. I have a hell of a time now most days! After reading your blog, though, I think we'd be able to appreciate their specialness a lot! HOWEVER, we've only been married 2.63 Kardashians, so we'll probably wait a bit longer anyway, like until 17 Kardashians probably ;) You've also inspired me to make mommy none-of-your-damn-business cards when we have kids. You're kind of becoming my new hero. < /fangirl >

  3. Maybe there was something awful that happened. It won't be the first time a man or woman gets past the altar and turns into a monster. If that happens who can blame either of them for calling a halt and getting out.

  5. Stockysister> You can DOO ET! :) I have physical issues (Cerebral Palsy and herniated lumbar disks = the floor is too far away to reach.) and I have a 17 month old that we "stole" a month ago (foster child) and a newborn on order from Santa (adoption due Christmas Day) If I can, you can!

  6. My husband and I went through the drive-thru wedding chapel here in Vegas... I was wearing no make-up, denim overalls (hey it was the late 90's) and we picked up chocolate milk shakes at Jack-in-the-Box on the way home... total wedding cost was less than $100, and that included the wedding license. LOL We've been happily married for 67.56 Kardashians... with three gorgeous daughters.

  11. This was really a talk of the town. It was really an unfortunate even for both of them. I hope that they will find real happiness without each other.

  12. They have plenty of money to do the grandiose wedding. It's just sad that everything came to an end. Marriage is a sacred thing that the couple needs to take care with great responsibility.
