Then, because apparently the makers of Bratz have tremendous capacity for irony (although no capacity for dignity), there were Bratz "Masquerade" dolls:

As incredible as this may seem, the makers of Bratz did not launch matching Masquerade costumes for little girls this year. I can only assume there was some sort of production foul-up in which the eight-year-old girls sewing the costumes in China were so horrified by American girls' lack of modesty that they slowed to a 19-hour workday. Presumably, those costumes will be available next year and the circle of crap will be complete.
The part that disturbs me most is that I think those dolls have more 'flesh' covered than the little girl in the costume. I mean at least the dolls appear to be wearing tights under their skankarific skirts.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on this. Having three daughters (18, 15, &5), I am so tired of seeing all the skin, on dolls and on "real" girls. If you want you daughters to dress cute but appropriately, you have to look a lot harder and spend a lot more money. Not fair....
ReplyDeleteUrgh. What's the matter with the people marketing those things to our girls? Disgusting. It's harder by the day to keep the skank at bay. (Sorry, didn't mean to go Dr. Seuss on you.) Thankfully, my 9 year old daughter decided to be a Dalmatian dog this year (and no, I don't want to imagine how Bratz would do animal costumes - ewww, ewww, ewww).
