Things That Freak Me Out: Special Easter Edition

As you probably have noticed by now, there are many, many things that freak me out.  At the top of the list are antique dolls, clowns, and America's Funniest Home Videos, because obviously.

Another thing that freaks me out is pretty much any mascot-type costume.  And the very worst of those costumes is the Easter Bunny.

Now, I love bunnies.  They're adorable.  They look like this:

You know what bunnies don't look like?  This:

This fear undoubtedly stems from being forced to have my picture taken with scary-ass Easter Bunnies as a kid.  They all looked something like this:

Our nation seems to have a long history of forcing children to sit on the lap of evil bunnies.

You know what would be awesome?  Combining my fear of creepy Easter things with creepy antique dolls.  Oh, goody:

Happy Easter.

  2. OMG - So hilarious and so true!!! I hate bunny costumes, and I don't understand the obsession with bunnies and Easter. I just don't get it. And I especially don't get why parents put their babies in those egg lookin' costume things; seriously???

  8. I can't stop laughing. However, I'll take the evil fake bunnies over all the insincere Christian sentiment being spread a foot thick all over the place. Happy Easter!

  11. I think that last one is the piece de resistance. Good Lord in Heaven.

Have you ever seen Donnie Darko?

It won't help your "bunny costumes freak me out" thing. FYI.

  24. Oh. Mah. GAWD. I don't think I've ever said "WTF?!??!" so many times reading a blog post. Truely frightening. What parent would want their child's picture taken with some of those??

  25. OMG this is awesome!

I never liked any "mascot" or "easter bunny" costumes either.

And my kiddo (who has ASD) really REALLY doesn't like them! Like, full-on run-away panic-attack feet-don't-fail-me-now kinda "doesn't like".

  26. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you! I am having the worst week in a long while (which is saying something) and was literally on the verge of tears when I pulled up this post yesterday. And somehow, against all the odds, you actually had me laughing out loud by the end. Ok and maybe still crying a little bit because of the whole stressed-out thing, but still! Any stressed-out mom knows laughing while you're crying is better than just crying, and so I have to thank you. THANK YOU!! Those scary-ass Easter bunnies might just get me through the week!

  27. Have you ever seen Buffy the Vampire Slayer? The character Anya had a crazy fear of bunnies. And now I know why.

  28. I just randomly stumbled upon this and it cracked me up! I've always wondered why the Easter Bunny costumes are so stinkin creepy! When my husband was a child he was scared of the tooth fairy... something about imagining her flying over him to get to his tooth! Hopefully my own kids didn't inherit his fears because the tooth fairy's coming for my 3 year old next week, thanks to an injured tooth he's having pulled. Oh, and by the way, if you are ever looking for helpful tooth info, I've found this Mom's Guide to be super helpful: http://www.1dental.com/moms-guide/. Cheers!
