Available Information About Autism: a very scientific chart

Hey y'all. I made this handy graphic to illustrate the information that's out there about autism!  It's super-scientific, as always.

  1. I don't have a child on the spectrum. As far as I can tell I have a very normal, if not imaginitive three year old. Before finding your blog some time back I would have thought having a child on the spectrum would be some sort of horrible curse. I know, close minded of me. But after reading your blog (and yes, admittedly watching Parenthood) I have come to see that it is just something you deal with. While I certainly wouldn't ask for a child on the spectrum, I no longer think of it the same. I don't mean to diminish from all the work and difficulty that comes along with a child with special needs, but I think you are doing a great job of showing that life goes on and you adapt to what life gives you. You are doing great things for your child and all other children with any "difference".
Also, I have never read any of Jenny McCarthy's books, and I don't really have an opinion on a correlation between vaccines and autism like she does, but I think her celebrity factor may help bring some awareness.

  8. Brilliant! The good news is that there ARE a Hella' Lot of blogs about autism, so slowly, the word is getting out there even if not scientifically. It's a great comfort and help to parents with kids on the spectrum, which is not nothing.

  10. Between my grandsons's Aspergers and my daughters Chronic Lyme Disease, we are a family with many challenges because either people don't believe you "have it" or your insurance won't pay for treating "it".

  12. HEHE I'm so tempted to send this chart to my children's biological mother who always wants to find the exact case study to match what my husband and I are trying to do! You think this will actually help out with getting her to go along more smoothly?
