Giveaway 9: Funky Junk Recycling Jewelry

[Note: Comments and contest are now closed.]

Today's giveaway is from Funky Junk Recycling!  We're giving away the Diet Coke necklace I featured as a graphic in a post a while back.

The artist who makes these bits of green awesome is Christine, who happens to work with special needs kids, including kids on the spectrum.

To enter to win, leave a comment on this post and tell me what your favorite carbonated beverage is.  Because I'm nosy like that.

Also?  You should totally check out Funky Junk Recycling on Etsy. Not a Diet Cokehead?  Not to worry.  Her stuff features all kinds of other carbonated vices.  You know what's adorable?  An Orange Crush can recycled into a Hello Kitty necklace.  You have to see it to believe it.  You can check it out at http://www.etsy.com/shop/FunkyRecycling.

  1. Diet Coke ties with Diet Dr. Pepper. I'm nursing, so I have to watch the caffeine, but both have caffeine free versions. Though...that kind of takes away the fun. But still!

  2. Generally I drink caffeine free Diet Coke, but the pieces she makes from Arizona Iced Tea cans, which I occasionally drink, are really pretty. I wasn't going to sign up for this one because I'm allergic to metal jewelry, but then I saw the ornaments and - eureka - that was the answer. I might go back and order the really cute gingerbread man. Thanks for the link SRMM.

  3. Very cool! Diet Dr Pepper is my addiction!! I average a 2 liter a day. That's probably unhealthy.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Mmmm. Diet Dr. Pepper is deliciouso! (I may have just made that word up-I'm not sure)

    ReplyDelete
  5. Diet Coke is my all-time favourite!! And to the servers at the restaurants: NO diet Pepsi is not okay instead. My friend, who I would love to win this for because she loves diet coke even more than I do, replies "Sure, is Monopoly money okay?". Love the necklace, and the blog!

  6. Diet Coke or Diet Dr. Pepper and they must be "leaded"! None of that "unleaded" soda - it just tastes off!

    ReplyDelete
  7. I loved Dr. Pepper as a kid, but as an adult, A&W Root Beer, hands down.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Dr. Pepper - HANDS DOWN!
Especially from Sonic during Happy Hour - 1/2 price! Numnumnum. Add a little vanilla for some more sugar if the 3 year old is out of control and you're at wits end... Voila, the world is perfect.

  9. very cute, very green. yeah recycling!

  10. Pepsi throwback or caffeine free pepsi. I looked at a lot of the pages of the site and oh goodness that is some really neat stuff! Even though I hate Coke apparently the cans turn into the cutest items!

  11. A&W rootbeer....creativity runs amok in the minds of some lucky people, like Christine...these are so beyond amazing awesomeness!!

  12. OMG Dr Pepper ... eek ... it was in Australia a few years ago and I was at an all day outdoor rock concert and was SOOOO thirsty and that's all they had ... I had almost skolled the can before the taste hit and I spat most of it out. Blerg. I think you can only get it at American import stores now.

We have Coke Zero here - like diet coke but in a black can and apparently one preservative different. The skeptics says its the same but aimed at men because they wont ask for a diet coke - tis a bit girly. I'm a can a day gurl.

  13. Tara-you are not alone! Love Diet Coke can't stand Diet Pepsi.

  14. My favorite carbonated beverage is diet mountain dew.....but my assistant teacher is hooked on diet coke. And as much as she's fantastic & wonderful & connected to my brain in many ways and I'd never survive a day at work (who'da thunk that a special needs mom with not only her own children, but now a special needs stepson would be a preschool teacher and take on more during the day!?) funds are really really tight and I don't have much to buy her a gift. Of course, I could never afford to buy her enough to show her how much I truly appreciate what she does every single day....

  15. Entering a comment to win. Ha!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Cherry Coke Zero or Diet Coke Lime win in the low-cal cola category, but by far my favorite carb bev is Mello Yello -- the liquid that fueled the dreams of champions (or, at least, kept me awake in college.) Delish!

    ReplyDelete
  17. It's a pretty even tie between Dr Pepper and caffeine free diet coke. But I love me som,e orange crush AND hello kitty. That's pretty amazing!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I adore this jewelry!! Coke is my vice. Original is the best but I usually drink Diet Coke or Coke Zero.

    ReplyDelete
  19. oh man, i want that so bad. my favorite soda is definitely diet coke. it is my raison d'etre (ya know, once i get past my son and husband and all that). i even have avintage tee shirt that says "I heart diet coke".

    ReplyDelete
  20. Diet coke all the way. This necklace is so cool

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm not much of a soda girl, though I do slam a Mountain Dew here and there. Would it be shameful if I listed my favorite as Bud Light? :-)

    ReplyDelete
  22. oh I am so bland! I must admit my favorite carbonated beverage is club soda. No splash of citris. Just club soda. Hell, i'd drink alka-seltzer as a drink if I could. If someone would create a carbonated unsweet tea my life would be complete.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Mmmm I'm drinking a tangerine lime sparkling water right now (in one hand, coffee in the other...totally double fisting at 8:30am), but after that it'll be all diet Dr. Pepper!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Mmm...I'm a way too much a day Diet Coke or Coke Zero girl! Love this! (Diet Dr. Pepper is good too, though.)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Like you I have given up drinking or eating anything with artificial sweeteners. I thought I was getting arthritis because my joints hurt so bad. A friend suggested I cut out sweeteners and see if that helped. In 3 days I was pain-free (I know it sounds like a bad infomercial). So I am grieving my secret diet coke and splenda but really happy that my joints feel normal again.

    ReplyDelete
  26. OK, if I don't win, I might have to get one anyway! How fun!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Cherry Coke Zero. I add port to it on a bad day.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  30. Would she make me something with Mountain Dew?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'd have to say anything diet. Except for Mountain Dew, because - EEWWW. I try to avoid drinking things that are roughly the same color as a bodily fluid one puts out while suffering from a raging bacterial infection, or anything that resembles radioactive materials.

But maybe that's just me... :-D

    ReplyDelete
  32. Awesome metalwork!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Diet Pepsi (I feel like I must whisper that while looking over my shoulder - not too many Pepsi fans on here!), but a close second would be Orange Crush! Love the Hello Kitty necklace!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  52. Fanta is my favorite, but I like Mountain Dew almost as much.

    ReplyDelete

    Love your blog :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Monster Import is delicious.....

    ReplyDelete
  55. Coke Zero...although I will admit that I miss Faygo Orange and Purple.

I call it pop, too. It's a Pittsburgh thing.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Favorite Carbonated bev is definitely Pelligrino or Lime flavored Sparkling Water. No calories...no guilt...more room for pie ;o)

    ReplyDelete
  57. My favorite is Diet Coke with Lime. It's hard to find sometimes, so I'll just squirt a litle RealLime into a regular diet coke...
    Cute products!

    ReplyDelete
  58. COKE - full strength. None of that namby pamby Diet stuff!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I'm strictly a Diet Coke girl. Only thing that helps with my migraines...

    ReplyDelete
  60. Coke Zero when I'm being good, Dr. Pepper when I'm being bad ;)

    ReplyDelete
  61. I am a Dr. Pepper fiend. But I sometimes drink Diet Coke if Dr. P is out on a call somewhere. Only the Diet ones, though the normal Cokes make me go "Ick".

    ReplyDelete
  62. I cannot live without Cherry Coke. Regular Coke laced with grenadine is not a substitute for actual Cherry Coke loveliness.

    ReplyDelete
  63. i LOVE it!!! all i drink is diet coke ;)

    ReplyDelete
  64. I'm so addicted to Diet Coke that when I was pregnant with #5 by OB told me to try to cut back to 2 cans a day, not to quit altogether because it would "send my system into shock." I am completely obsessed!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I'm addicted to Iron Bru, so much so that I have to import it from Scotland since they don't sell it here in the states.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Fanta, Fanta, Fanta!! Orange, lemon, Cherry it doesn't matter as long as its Fanta :)

    ReplyDelete
  67. I love Diet Coke, but as it is not good for me I usually settle for Fresca.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Probably Diet Dr. Pepper...with Diet Coke a close second.

But if I'm feeling "healthy" I go for an Izze!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Diet Coke!!!! I've been drinking more since I heard you had to cut back - can't decide if it's sympathy or fear that I may have to do the same thing!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Diet Coke!!!! Drinking one right now (Aaaah!)

    ReplyDelete
  71. Totally dr pepper and all of it's store brand bastard children.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Diet DR Pepper is like crack!

    Nissa Anderson

    ReplyDelete
  73. I"m a pepper, he's a pepper, she's a pepper. Wouldn't you like to be a pepper too?

    ReplyDelete
  74. My favorite is cherry coke zero, when I'm not too lazy to get it (neither of the two closest grocery stores stocks it... jerks); otherwise diet pepsi or diet doctor pepper. Or if I'm in the mood for fizzy but not cola, fresca or jones cream soda.

And pretty much everything from funky junk recycling is adorable, and Christine seems pretty freakin awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  75. That would be pomegranite 7up. Yum yum!

    ReplyDelete
  76. I'm trying to wean myself off of coca cola. It isn't easy. My husband drinks like 5 cans a day so they are always around and icy cold in the fridge.

He recently hid them in his closet so I wouldn't find them!

    ReplyDelete
  77. I need this (please!). I heart diet Coke hardcore. When I read that you had to cut it out I actually gasped in shock and sympathy.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Diet Coke and I go way back--there's no way in hell I'd have survived the hangovers of my 20's without it. The only way I'll start the day, even now that I have to go (mostly) caffeine free!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Cute idea! I have some nieces and a daughter who'd love them!

    ReplyDelete
  80. I don't do carbonated much these days, but when I do, it's got to be Diet Coke with fresh lime.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I'm all for anything creative you can do with a coke product!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Cheerwine :) Those of you from North Carolina and Alabama MAY know the deliciousness to which I refer! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

    ReplyDelete
  83. Coke Zero followed close behind by Diet Coke....

    ReplyDelete
  84. My husband just returned from the store...with more Diet Coke.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Oh these are just awesome! I LOVE the jewelry. I'm partial to the diet Coke, and the lime one is wonderful. I will drink diet Pepsi, too, and if I'm completely honest (shhhh, I know, it's almost sacrilegious) I drink diet coke and diet pepsi interchangeably. Diet Dr. Pepper is also good, and because I'm also trying to cut back on caffeine, I have started drinking diet root beer. I'm not terribly picky, though, as long as it can eat my bones and make me burp, I'm good. Although I totally agree with the diet mt. dew, I had just never thought of it quite so, er, intimately. But no, you should never drink anything that looks like a bodily fluid produced by a raging bacterial infection.

I don't see the lovely frodka on this list, though. Heh, or the newly illegal Four Lokos. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  86. Love.Love.Love Diet Coke! When I can't have it I go for Diet DP. Both of them help me make it through my long afternoons as work! (Sometimes both in the same day - bad!)

    ReplyDelete
  87. It used to be diet coke, then when pregnant for the first time I switched to club soda (from Sobey's here in the north, b/c I'm super picky and can taste the difference in other brands). It was a VERY HARD few weeks but I haven't looked back since. Though diet coke still taunts me, and I know if I have 2 or more in a row I'll be hooked again, just like any good addict! :)
