I Heart Larry the Cable Guy

A little follow-up to this morning's post.  I have to tell you, I'm fascinated by Larry the Cable Guy, whose real name is Dan Whitney.  My favorite LTCG quote doesn't even come from his act, it's from an interview after he had slimmed down quite a bit.  He said he had lost so much weight, "I'm down an Olsen!"

But just when you think you know a person, a little YouTube digging reveals that even a self-professed "redneck" can have many sides.

On the one hand, you have this:

(Important Note: Please don't send me political emails after seeing this clip.  It's just funny, not some weird underhanded endorsement of either party.  It was also the least offensive clip I could find.  Thanks.)

And on the other hand, you have this:

And then there's this:

Who knew?

  1. Thanks for sharing the humor! And his good deed.

I really enjoyed the grandma jokes. I can relate to the Angel of Death vs Gramma scenario. We used to joke that Satan told God he'd better just heal her 'cause tat old broad wasn't welcome down here-just too mean! heeheehee

  3. That is awesome. Brain-injured children are close to my heart because I have one of my own. And what that mom said about how long term she hopes that the name of her child will bring hope to other families...but her story has brought hope to me and I'm nowhere NEAR Nebraska!! It's amazing what one can do when they're moved to generosity.

In Phoenix we have a Children's Hospital who I credit for saving MY child's life. I am training to run a half marathon in January to raise money for the hospital. If anyone is interested in helping out, you can go here http://www.firstgiving.com/sadiebeck and read our family's story. Like LTCG said, whether it's $1.2 million or $5, every bit makes a difference!

    Blessings!

  4. Thanks for sharing! Being a born and raised southern gal, his kind of comedy has always makes me laugh. I love know his softer, not so funny side too.

Like the previous poster, our little man has had his share of brain surgeries in Phoenix. One at PCH and one at the new children's hospital. As I've told you before, I neurosurgeon is A.MAZ.ING. We've never had help from this group, but we've had so much help from the Ronald McDonald House. I'm so thankful that there are people out there with hearts so big and help families that need a helping hand during the hardest times.
