Road Trip Song of the Day: Houston, TX

We are, at long last, back home in Houston.  There are no groceries in the house but I do have a cold Frodka in my hand.  Tomorrow I'll burn our luggage do the laundry and buy a new car clean the van.

Today's Road Trip Song of the Day is by one of Houston's favorite sons, Lyle Lovett.  The song is "That's Right (You're Not From Texas)."  It busts on visitors and newcomers for not wearing their Western gear quite correctly, but kindly intones, "That's right, you're not from Texas, but Texas wants you anyway."

Thanks, Texas.  I resolve to buy cowboy boots this fall. I'll try to wear them correctly.

  1. I grew up in Oklahoma and only owned boots when I was 4 years old. I rocked those red cowgirl boots though!!
I have heard this song in a movie I think. Good one.

  2. I adore Lyle Lovett and this song is a must on every road-trip playlist or cd I have ever made. My kid could sing this from the time they were toddlers. I can't remember how I clicked over here but I sure am glad I did!

  3. Texas is just so welcoming in that way. Makes up for the crazy heat and the crazy lack of zoning in Houston that makes so many folks fear this place! :)
