Today I'm at Rants from Mommyland!
Do you have any idea how excited I am to be here? Kate and Lydia are my
idols and I spend much of my free time
stalking them reading and admiring their work. When my blog,
stark. raving. mad. mommy., inched its way up to the
Top 50 on Babble, I was excited because I was on the same page with Rants from Mommyland. Squee! I’m at a lunch table near the cool kids. Do you think they noticed my awesome new
pegged jeans Op shirt jelly bracelets blog? OMG. I think Kate just looked at me. And made fun of my shoes.
Anyway, I need to tell you about my special region of Mommyland, which is known as either Special Needsville or Yes My Child Rides the Short Bus Damnit. Actually, my son is way too panicky to ride any bus. I have to drive him. We
aspire to the short bus.

Read it. Loved it. You rock so hard. That is all. :)
ReplyDeleteUm, love love love you. And, now I'm gonna hafta read their blog too!
ReplyDeleteHello stark. raving. mad. mommy,
ReplyDeleteI just found your BLOG today & so glad I have... I just started blogging myself. We have a lot in common... I am a Mama of 3 (#4 in route.) and my now middle son has high functioning ASD, along with my other two we deal with allergies, genetic syndromes, and heart deffects! Not a boring day in my life & I wouldn't have it any other way.
Anyways... I am glad I found you & look forward to reading your previous posts!
xoxo,
the mama.
Awesome post. People are so stupid and ignorant and I'm not sure why, entirely. People often like to comment on the fact that we have four kids and for that reason, we must be going to have another one. Um, no we're not, and if we were, why do you care? My favourite response, when told we "should" have one more is: "Well I'm pretty sure my husband would not agree with me f*cking someone else." He had a vasectomy. Not that it's any of their business. So yeah, which is the cuter twin? ;)
ReplyDeleteOh and to be clear, I know the ignorant comments you face by far outweigh the ones I'm talking about. Just wanted to share my own experiences with ignorance!
"It’s just going to piss me off. When you comment, loudly and incredulously, “he’s getting a little big for diapers,” I’m going to respond even more loudly, “and you’re getting a little big for those fake Apple Bottom jeans.” Because your tramp-stamped muffin top is wayyyy more unsightly than an Elmo diaper peeking over my son’s waistband. That’s right: You better check yo self before you wreck yo self."
ReplyDeleteOMG!! I love you!! That is so what I would think BUT not be able to say!! OHMYGAWD...
I'm just going to go off and laugh my poor fool head off!!
ps - thanks for not finding a pic of muffin tops and tramp stamps!!
I hope you are ready for a whole bunch of stalker mommies because I think that all of Kate and Lydia's readership are going to love you. And I had to throw in my own two cents because my friend and I were reading and loving your blog this morning, and I had to share with my peeps:

Great post! Just read your post on Rants from Mommyland. As a mom, of 2, yes TWO kids with ASD, I have heard it all and then some. BTW, all the fun mommies of special need kids in TX homeschool.

PS You've got another new reader here!
Love your post! I'm a first time reader because I have not 1, not 2 but 3 children diagnosed with PDD-NOS and since most of my day is spent trying to keep them from burning the house down, I don't have alot of spare time. They are twin boys 3 1/2 yrs old and a 2 1/2 year old boy. I have heard everything in the book about how I should handle things but reading your blog has been a breathe of fresh air! Thanks for a great laugh and a much needed break!
ReplyDeleteI have a tee-shirt for my son that he wears when we go out:
ReplyDeleteIt says: My autism isn't so bad but your staring is with two big googley eyes on it. You should see the looks I get...LOL It makes me laugh and laugh.
I found you through your Dora post, but love this one even more. As a mommy of 4, all with ADHD this made me laugh and cry. My kids are older and it does get a little easier in some ways (I don't have to worry about them burning down the house making cereal in the morning, at least as much as I used to, its always a possibility), but harder in others (middle school kids are SO CRUEL!) Thanks for the smile.
